When building a new home or starting a remodeling project, one of the most important elements in your home or office design is lighting. Choosing what works best in your home can be a difficult and sometimes overwhelming task because there are so many choices out there. Function and style are both important factors when choosing which light fixtures will go in your space. Diva by Design traveled to the Lightovation Conference in January to see the latest in lighting trends and we found fixtures that combine both of these elements beautifully.

Colorful Lighting Trends

Color was a big trend in lighting fixtures at Lightovation in Dallas. Colored glass shades on pendants were everywhere and instead of the Mid Century Modern amber and green glass we saw pastels and primary colored glass. Another modern take on adding color in light fixtures was by mixing traditional colored metal with navy, black, white, gray, and more.

Kitchen Lighting Trends

The tiny pendants over bar counters and kitchen islands are going away and in their place we saw large pendants. The bigger the better!

Dining Room Lighting Trends

In your dining room, this trend has been becoming more and more popular: multiple chandeliers or pendants over the dining table. Single chandeliers have been a staple of dining rooms for as long as we can remember, and while it is still a beautiful choice, that is changing. Grouping fixtures in twos or threes is the modern way.

Bedroom Lighting Trends

Homeowners like you are now looking for more sophisticated and elegant lighting fixtures for the bedroom instead of the builder basic flush or semi-flush mount light. To bring in a more glamorous look to the bedroom, why not choose a chandelier?

Bathroom Lighting Trends

Still popular are the strip lights over the vanity in the bathroom. However, a popular alternative to these fixtures are flattering wall sconces on either side of the mirror like the ones we installed in our clients newly remodeled master bathroom recently.
